The Cameron Peak Fire has continued to burn in Northern Colorado, surpassing 187,000 acres and becoming the largest wildfire in the state’s history.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but U.S. Forest service officials have speculated the wildfire to be human caused.
Firefighting effort have continued to contain the fire that started on Aug. 13. Crews have had beneficial weather like snow and faced challenging temperatures, low humidity and strong winds. Those combined factors have increased fire danger and can lead to red-flag warnings.
Voluntary and mandatory evacuations have been called due to the fire. Masonville residents faced evacuations in mid-October, along with Rist Canyon, Horsetooth Mountain Park and Open Space among others.
