The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 2,239 new COVID-19 cases and 11 additional deaths in the state Saturday.As of 10 a.m., the health department reported 225,783 total positive cases, 130,007 total recoveries and 2,360 total deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. The state reported 223,544 total cases and 2,349 total deaths the previous day.Health department data show 1,203,496 Iowans have been tested for coronavirus. The state received 4,834 individual lab test results in the previous day, with 928 positive cases. Iowa receives results from prior days that add to the overall total. The state’s 14-day positivity rate continues to decline at 17.7%, down from 18.7% the previous day. Of Iowa’s 99 counties, 84 report a 14-day positivity rate at 15% or higher. That’s down from 85 the previous day. Schools within those counties can apply for a waiver to provide 100% virtual learning. Lyon and Humboldt counties report a rate greater than 30%, while Clarke and Poweshiek report a rate lower than 10%.The number of Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19 continues to slowly decline.
